Types of Care Funding:

• Self-Funded Care: You pay for care services out of pocket, without assistance from the local council.
• State-Funded Care: Your care costs are covered by the state, which may involve funding from the government, local council, or social services.

Self-Funded Care:

If you have savings over £23,250, you will need to pay for your care independently. You can choose to arrange and pay for your care yourself or request the council to handle the arrangements and bill you directly, although some councils may charge an administrative fee for this service.

State-Funded Care:

If your savings are below £23,250, you may be eligible for council-funded care. A financial assessment (means test) by the council will determine your eligibility, considering your income and savings, but not your property value (if you are opting for home care rather than a care home).

Additional Support:

Regardless of how your care is funded, you may be eligible for additional free support and benefits, including:

• Small equipment or home adaptations costing less than £1,000 each.
• NHS-funded care, such as continuing healthcare, nursing care, and post-hospital discharge care.
• Attendance Allowance and Personal Independence Payment (replacing Disability Living Allowance).

Arranging Your Care:

My Crew Healthcare works with local social services to complete your care needs assessment and develop a care plan. The council will then perform a financial assessment to confirm the funding amount.

Receiving Your Funding:

You have three options for managing your care funds:

1. Council-Managed Care: Social services arrange and fund your care directly with My Crew Healthcare.
2. Personal Budget: You receive funds directly and manage the care arrangements with My Crew Healthcare.
3. Mixed Package: The council arranges part of your care, and you manage the rest using a personal budget.

Personal Budget and Individual Services Fund (ISF):

A personal budget is the amount of money your local council allocates for your care. You can receive this budget as:

• Direct Payments: Funds are transferred to your bank account, and you pay My Crew Healthcare directly, providing receipts for the expenses.
• Individual Services Fund (ISF): My Crew Healthcare manages your care and budget, including any additional services not provided by us.

ISF offers the benefit of choice and control over your care without the need to manage the budget yourself. This option is available in certain regions, so please contact us to see if it’s offered in your area.
